I know it’s not a real photo but it’s super cute

Hi! I’m Amanda.

she/her | LPCC | MA in CMHC

Thanks for stopping by!

You may know me from a variety of different hats I wear in my life. At Authentic Alchemy, I hope to wear the hat of your counselor or therapist.

I am an LPCC in the state of Colorado, which is my home state. I started my journey in mental health at Regis University, where I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health in 2024. Previously, I got my BA in Psychology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. I’ve had the privilege to work closely with the LGBTQ+ community, specifically gender expansive and trans individuals, at the Transgender Center of the Rockies.

I have a specialty in LGBTQIA+ issues and complex mental health issues. I have a particular interest in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to personality disorders especially borderline personality disorder, anxiety, dissociation, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)/plurality, giftedness, psychosis, depression, and suicidal ideation.

I have lived experience as a second-generation Chinese-American, as a queer ciswoman, as a polytheist/pagan, and as an individual in a polyamorous relationship.

I am also very nerdy, to nobody’s surprise - I run a LARP group, play a lot of video games, and know a lot of TTRPGs. If you are looking for a geek therapist, I fit the bill.

Approaches

My approach is interdisciplinary or eclectic, drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also receiving training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches and hope to expand my knowledge in that area.

Having this variety of approaches allows me to really meet you where you’re at, tailoring our work together to your experience.

  • Person-Centered is the basis of all therapy - you might’ve heard of unconditional positive regard, congruency, or empathy. Narrative Therapy is focused on the content of the stories, or narratives, that make up our lives. We all have a narrative - listening to it with curiosity and empathy helps us figure out what’s going on.

  • The big three! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are common acronyms that get thrown around. They’re wonderful frameworks for tackling specific mental health issues, which I pull from for specific skills.

  • My mapping tools. Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic theories are a set of theories that I use to understand where things might be coming from. It handles unconscious (or subconscious) needs, drives, and is a method of figuring out why things may be happening.

  • I am trained in EMDR, which is a type of trauma therapy. EMDR is a methodology to do trauma therapy that involves eye movements to desensitize yourself to traumatic content, while reprocessing said traumatic content.

Look it’s an actual photo of me!
